Super Prompt Polisher - Privacy Policy

Last Updated: May 24, 2025

Hey there! Thanks for using "Super Prompt Polisher" (we'll call it "the Extension"). I built this tool to help you quickly enhance and refine your text prompts right in your browser. This Privacy Policy explains what information the Extension handles and why, so you know exactly what’s going on.

We designed this Extension with your privacy as a top priority. My goal is to process your text without ever needing to store it or send it to my servers, unless absolutely necessary for a specific feature you choose to use (and I'll tell you if that happens).

1. What Information We Handle (And What We Don't)

  • The Text You Polish: When you click the Extension's button or use its features, it needs to access the text you want to polish.
  • Local Processing: By default, all the 'polishing' magic happens right inside your browser. The text you provide is processed locally and is NOT sent to our servers.
  • If you use specific advanced features that require server-side processing (like [mention specific feature]), we will need to send your text to our servers temporarily. We only process it to perform the enhancement and do not store it after the process is complete. We will make it clear when you are using such a feature.
  • User Settings (If Any): If the Extension allows you to save preferences (like your preferred 'polishing style'), these settings are stored locally in your browser using the storage permission. We don't have access to these settings.
  • No Personal Information: We do not collect or store any personally identifiable information (PII) like your name, email address, or IP address through the core functionality of the Extension.
  • No Text Storage: We do not store the text you polish. Once you have the enhanced version, the original and the processed text are gone from our (non-existent) active memory, unless they remain on the webpage you're editing.
  • Anonymous Usage Data: To help improve the Extension, we may collect anonymous usage statistics. This might include things like which features are used most often, but it never includes the text you process or any personal information. This data helps us understand what works and what needs improving. We use [mention service, e.g., Google Analytics] for this, and they have their own privacy policies.

2. How We Use Information

We only use the information handled by the Extension for these purposes:

  • To Make It Work: To grab your text, polish it according to the Extension's logic, and replace it (or provide it to you). This relies on permissions like activeTab (to access the current page when you click) and scripting (to perform the actions on the page).
  • To Save Your Settings: To remember your preferences locally if you set any.
  • To Improve the Extension: To understand how people use the tool and make it better, based on anonymous data.

3. Permissions We Ask For

We ask for certain browser permissions to make the Extension function. Here's why:

  • activeTab: To get access to the tab you're currently on only when you click the Extension icon. This is the safest way to let us work on the page you intend.
  • scripting: To run the code that actually reads and modifies the text on the page you're working on.
  • storage (Optional): To save your settings locally.
  • contextMenus (Optional): If we offer a right-click "Polish Text" feature.
  • Host Permissions: To allow the Extension to run on the websites where you need to polish prompts. We aim to ask for the narrowest permissions needed.

4. Data Sharing

This one's easy: We do not share your text or any personal information with third parties. Period.

If we use an analytics service, we only share anonymized and aggregated usage data, never your text or personal details.

5. Data Security

Since we aim to process everything locally, your data primarily stays on your computer, under your control.

If we use servers for specific features, we employ standard security measures to protect the data while it's being processed and ensure it's deleted immediately after.

6. Changes to This Privacy Policy

The web changes, and so might this Extension. If we make significant changes to how we handle your data, we'll update this Privacy Policy. We'll likely notify you via the Chrome Web Store listing or perhaps an in-extension notice. We recommend checking back here occasionally.
